One of two Git utilities specializing in integrating changes from one branch to another is Rebase. Git merge is the other change integration utility. Merge is often a record of forwarding changing transition. Alternatively, rebase has strong functionality for rewriting history.

Rebasing is the mechanism by which a series of commits are transferred or merged to a new base commit. In the context of a function branching workflow, rebasing is most beneficial and easily visualized. Rebasing transfers the branch base from one commit to another, making it look as though the branch was formed from another commit.
