Hardeep Singh Puri, the Civil Aviation Minister, has now confirmed in a statement that Ayodhya will receive a state-of-the-art airport. The project has been given INR 242 crore by the Airports Authority of India. The airport will benefit visitors and pilgrims who wish to visit the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which is currently under construction.

The temple is currently under construction, and with the completion of the new airport, a large number of visitors will be able to easily access the city.

The airport is expected to open in the first quarter of next year. The Supreme Court ordered the Ram Temple in Ayodhya to be built on August 5, 2020. The temple is being constructed over a 270-acre site, with ATR72 aircraft operations expected to begin in the first phase. The airport will be upgraded in phase 2 of the project to accommodate wide-body aircraft. The airport will eventually be upgraded to an international airport. In addition, a new airport is being built in Lalitpur, Bundelkhand.

After Lord Ram, the airport in Ayodhya will be named Maryada Purushottam Sriram Airport, Ayodhya. Other cities in Uttar Pradesh, such as Aligarh, Moradabad, and Meerut, will be connected by air service in the near future. Purvanchal has proposed a budget of INR 300 crore for special schemes, and the Bundelkhand region has proposed a budget of INR 210 crore. Both under the Special Area Programme.
